5 stars for the Gemini Giant but 0 for the experience. There was a woman painting a few areas of the Launching Pad and she was incredibly off-putting when visitors asked about the building. She told me “I’m not talking to people. I’m doing God’s work.” Another visitor asked her when it might be open and her response was “God will tell me when to open.” He says “We just want to know when we can visit.” This is an iconic stop on Route 66 and I would think God would encourage her to be friendlier if she wanted future customers!!

The Gemini Giant in Wilmington, Illinois is a 30-foot tall astronaut holding a rocket that has been a staple on Route 66 since 1960.

Interesting roadside attraction but the Launching Pad restaurant close by was closed down when we visited and didn't look to be opening any time soon.

Not sure what happened to the poor Gemini Man, someone parked there car all the way to the feet of the Gemini Man and had its bonnet strung with wire and smoke coming coming out of it. It was a very weird experience as the whole parking lot of empty and this car is parked onto the statue. Irrespective of that I was happy I touched a part of famous Route 66.

The restoration of this place is done very well. The owner obviously takes pride in it by providing heartfelt history of the place and the statue outside. Worth the stop. The Chicago Dog was awesome and the one pound pie shakes looked fantastic

This is an ironic place for the route66 traveler! The Gemini Giant is well maintained, and easy to photograph with plenty of parking

Worth the stop if you like cool old memorabilia of the good ole days. In addition to the giant, the restaurant is cute inside. I just wish the souvenirs were a little less expensive.
